Are you looking to spoil mum this Mother’s Day? Whether she’s an adventurer always keen to explore, or a more homely character, we can all agree that mums everywhere need pampering on Mother’s Day. So how can you help your kids plan a fabulous day for mum?
The first thing to consider when planning a day for Mother’s Day is what she would like to do. We’re sure that she’d love anything with thought behind it, but to really make a Mother’s Day she’ll never forget, you should put yourself in her shoes. So to help you make the right choice for that special mum, we’ve put together a few ideas to help you.
If you think she’d like something all for her:
Get creative
Handmade gifts and cards are always more special than those that are bought, so if you’ve got a free afternoon with the kids, why not get crafty and make a lovely card to surprise her with on Mother’s Day morning? All you need for a card is coloured cardboard, tissue, glitter and some pens and paints. If your children are even more creative, a homemade gift will make this Mother’s Day even more memorable. A dreamcatcher, a bouquet of flowers that will never die or even some homemade cakes and biscuits say so much more than a shop bought present.
Think outside the box
For a day she’ll never forget, try thinking outside the box – the chocolate box that is. Chocolate workshops are great for sweet-toothed, crafty mums, allowing her to learn something new while sampling the fruits of her labour as she goes along. Chocolate workshops have popped up all over the country, so we’re certain you’ll find one close-by.
Make it truly relaxing
Spas are great for recharging the batteries. But busy mums don’t always get the chance to get away and fully relax. Why not treat mum to a luxurious day at a local spa and allow her to get pampered from dusk ‘til dawn. Many spas boast special Mother’s Day packages for this time of year, complete with massages, facials and even afternoon tea.
Or if mum would like to celebrate as a family:
Grab a bite
Afternoon tea has become one of the most popular treats in recent years. And Mother’s Day should be no different. We’re certain you’ll be able to find somewhere to enjoy a sunny spring afternoon tea close to your house, but look out for special packages that will give mum a glass of bubbly to really make it a day to remember for her and the whole family.
Hit the shops
Often mums are never out of the shops. But supermarkets and kids’ shops don’t exactly scream luxury. If mum is always too busy looking after the family to treat herself, why not head out as a family to the local shopping centre or city and treat her to something special? Whether it’s a new dress for the upcoming family holiday, a new pair of shoes or a piece of jewellery that she’ll keep forever, we’re certain it’ll bring a smile to her face. While you’re out, you could also pop out for a family dinner to round off the day.
Enjoy the spring weather
Mother’s Day is often the first signal of spring for many, so there’s no need to let it go to waste. If mum is a keen adventurer, head out into the great outdoors for a country walk as a family. The fresh air will do everyone the world of good, while mum will just enjoy being outside with the family. And you can of course top it off with a traditional Sunday lunch at a local pub – it’s always wise to book on Mother’s Day!
