5 Reasons to Take the Kids Skiing This Spring

Although spring tends to conjure up images of blossoming flowers, sunny days and long walks in the park, it can also be a great opportunity to take the kids on a late season skiing holiday. It’s the last chance to fully embrace the slopes before they shut down for the season, and this comes with many added benefits.

Read on to find out five reasons why it’s a great idea to take the kids on a skiing holiday this spring.

It’s Cheaper

Firstly, skiing during the late season can be much cheaper than peak season. Skiing isn’t one of the most affordable types of holidays to go on, with the cost of rentals and ski passes not to mention clothing, lessons, accommodation and transport, so a trip during spring, or late season, can mean you get a much more affordable deal.

Great Conditions

Some people might fear that a skiing trip in spring means there will be no snow – but never fear! High-altitude resorts such as Tignes, Val d’Isere, Val Thorens and St. Anton are perfect for late season skiing and arguably have some of the best ski schools in Europe. It’s also worth remembering that a skiing trip in spring means you’ll benefit from all the snow that has fallen over the winter – an extra bonus!

It’s Quieter

Of course, taking a skiing holiday during the late season means that it will be a lot quieter than peak season. This is ideal as it means you will get more time (and space) to enjoy the slopes. This will also mean less time queuing for the ski lifts and more time enjoying the resort.

Longer Days

You will have much longer days on a spring skiing holiday than you would have if you came during the winter. This means you’ll have much more time to enjoy the slopes whilst the sun is shining. Longer lift opening times are another big bonus that comes with spring ski holidays.

Apres-Ski

As it’s warmer and sunnier during the spring months, it also means the options for après-ski are much broader than they would be during the winter months. Family-friendly resorts usually have lots of activities for the kids to enjoy away from the slopes, but during springtime there is also the option to go walking or even climbing as a family.
